Boss DD-3 Digital Delay
The DD-3 is, by far, one of the most popular digital delay boxes in all of pedal history. I’d go so far as to say that its pristine delays have been repeated on more stages and than any other echo device. This no-nonsense box is everything you’d expect from a hard-working and dependable digital delay unit. You’ll get super clean repeats with little, to no coloration, perfect decays, and a flexible delay times that can create everything from short bathroom wall slap backs to long trippy cascading patterns. The same 3 “easy-as-pie” parameters you’ll find on most Boss delays are here: delay time, feedback, and level. There is also a fourth “mode” knob that adjusts the delay time range and also switches the unit into a cool “hold” (infinite repeat) mode for sampling super short snippets of solos or riffs. It’s won’t pass for a full-blown looper but it’s fun for creating drones and weird atmospherics. I must say, for an all-around delay box you can’t really go wrong with the DD-3 unless, of course, you are expecting it to sound like an analog delay.
