Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor
The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor is a no nonsense noise gate that does an remarkably effective job of getting rid of all the pesky noise created from high gain or vintage pedals. Using a combination of the simple Threshold and Decay knobs we quickly cured an annoying buzz that was coming from one of our vintage phasers and managed the noise from a amp set for heavy crunch. The noise reduction circuitry is silky smooth and we didn’t notice any signal interference. You’ll have compromise a little bit of note sustain depending on the Decay settings, but that’s just the nature of suppressing noise. Take the time to dial this thing in and then just let it do its thing. In addition to running the NS-2 in-line, Boss wisely added Send and Return jacks for singling out those noisy effects and putting them in a separate loop. This offers some added flexibility for routing, looping, and switching possibilities. You might also want to forget about ever buying batteries since the NS-2 also acts as a power supply for up to eight effects.
