VHT uses them in a few amps (2150, Deliverance, and 2902 spring to mind). Ampeg used(es) them in the SVT. Crate used them in the BV 300. (I'm lumping 6550s and KT-88s together)

Explain please? I'm not seeing how reducing the number of tubes is going to alter the B+ voltage of the power tranny enough to do what's need to drive KT-88s into break up.
