i can't speak for the Tube Zipper--i've never tried one--but as for the MuRF, i find that relegating it as a textural effect helps. find a couple patterns that you like and add them in with volume swells or back the mix off and use them to color arpeggios.

also, it couldn't hurt to get a tap tempo footswitch and play sequenced parts.
