For a metal type tone I am a fan of running a ts9 into a muff. Keep the gain on the overdrive under 9 o'clock and crank the volume to where you want it. It's ztremely loud so you will have to make sure to find the right mix of volume from the pedals so you aren't quieter when you switch.
