Look up series and parallel wiring diagrams. It's not rocket science (nope not trying to be condescending) it's probably one of the easiest projects you will ever do. My Vox cab I actually wired DPDT switch to change back and forth between series and parallel for my different amp heads. That way I can change between 4ohms and 16ohms for my Fender and Orange.
To your modifying gear friends you will look and feel like a n00b, but to those friends who can't tell the difference between a resistor and a capacitor, you'll be the James Dean of wiring. (seriously, people are impressed by simple things they don't know, chances are you'll impress yourself that you did something and it works. I get the same stupid feeling every time I change a resistor, or replace something with a jumper or add a switch. It's like "I did something and it still works!")
