Sovtek Mig 50 bias

Hey all,
I recently acquired a sovtek mig 50 (NOT THE MIDGET, REPEAT! NOT THE MIDGET!) and am so far really happy.
After some initial teething problems though (was throwing the mains fuse, turned out to be a dud power tube, so I've ordered a new set) I've got some concerns regarding the bias on this thing.
I'm reading 580v with a probe on the sockets and 40mA of draw, which concerns me as I don't really want to be buying tubes every other month. My biggest problem is I'm seeing no bias trim pot to reign this in and cool things down a bit (for the sake of tube life).
I bought some sovtek 6l6s to go in it and while I hear that they are pretty hardy I'm also thinking that this seems like a lot of abuse to subject a tube to.
What can I do?
Have searched all over the net and have found zero help (if anything, misinformation).
Am I changing resistor values somewhere (which ones, if so?) ?? Can I replace one with a trim pot (again, which one if so) or will this require totally reworking the bias circuit?
Whats the deal?
