The parts that are used aren't exactly cheap either. 3dpdt switches are pretty expensive like 5-10USD a piece. That'll add up pretty quick. I'd say just buy it.

EDIT: If your a rack guy, which you seem to be, why not just save up and get a midi loop like the GCX? that'd be a lot easier in the long run as far as switching onstage.
