Bahaha, both of those amps are capable of STUPID levels of gain! As for whether it's useable or not, both are useable as long as you keep the gain down beyond the point it no longer saturates anymore, let your ears be your guide. Both can get very evil sounding with a graphic or parametric EQ in the loop as well, it's honestly a tossup IMHO as far as "BR00TALITY" goes.
Honestly, both are great amps. But personally I say the Triple XXX as I find it more versatle with three channels, a better clean channel and the active EQ's.
For heavy rock and metal both can do it and do it well. You really want to go out and test drive both of these amps in person to really make a decision. Hope it helps, good lucks.
