That you didn´t like the JTM45 in unison with your Orange is understandable, but the JTM45 sounds best through the Marshall TV cabinet with Greenbacks anyway, I think the Orange cab has been also a reason why you didn´t like the sound...
I think your idea is a good idea, since many bands get their heavy tones this way (e.g. Bad Religion)...
All in all i think the best compliment would be either a:
Orange Rockerverb 50 watt
Mesa Single Rectifier (I really mean this honestly!!!)
Framus Dragon (although probably too loud)
Engl Thunder 50 watt
Engl Fireball,
although I don´t think the Engls would be the best choice... Just an opinion though...

thanks man. I will look into the rockerverb, can it achieve a good "modern" sounding high gain? I did concider the cab choice afterwards, but either way I wasn't too into it. Yeah I've seen plenty of bands do this...in ways it's like the ultimate eq...you can dial in exactly how you want your lows to sound and exactly how bright you want your highs.
any other suggestions out their?
