Re: Questions on a strat bridge

In the back, the bigger springs.. I see alot of people have 5/full springs, with their bridge flat against the guitar. (I understand this part) but I don't know why the springs. Mine came with only 3.. (I like mine flat against the guitar, too) So what difference does this really make?
I also see that like.. nobody has a cover over the back part, why is that? Do only the newer ones come with a plastic cover?
And finally the type of bridge. I'm not sure what I have, but are there different types? Like different types of material that are better in tone?
Thanks for any future advice
1. More springs = more tension = more tuning stability. This makes it a little...er, harder I guess, to use the trem.
2. Lazyiness more than anything,
Paranoids are not paranoid because they're paranoid, but because they keep putting themselves, [censored] idiots, deliberately into paranoid situations.
