Alright there are a couple of differemnces:
- Maple has a brighter tone(due too the fact it is denser wood), Rosewood has a bit of a darker tone(because this wood isn't as dense as maple). The sound difference is hard to explain, I guess you just have to hear it.
Other differences are:
- Rosewood CAN be better for heavier gain sounds(due too the darker sound)
- Maple CAN be better if you're looking for a sparkly tone.
The first difference is a FACT. But All the other differences are just a matter of opinion..I've seen people play metal with maple-necked guitars. And as far as playability goes, I personally don't think there's a big difference between the two, but again, it's a matter of opinion. Just try to get a hold of both guitars and play them, then see which one you like best.
