I think dime bag darrell uses 15's. Distortion would be pretty cool with a 15, but I'd still much rather have a couple of 4x12 cabs than a setup with a 4x12 and 1x15 cabs. But whatever puts the syrup on yer pancakes.

I'm using a 4x12 and a 1x15.

It rocks.

It doesn't really give you any more low end, it just makes it sound a bit different (I find it tighter).

once i played through a marshall jcm 800 cab stack, the top cab was a 4x12 and the bottom was a 2x15....... way bad ass.... power that projects.
in a local band i know, one of the guitarist uses a setup like that, only it's all crate..... he's got a 220w s.s. crate head with a built on tuner, i'm not sure what model.... he has it pushing a 2x15 guitar cab and a 4x12.. and his tone sounds great.

I use a 15" speaker in my amp. It's a Fender Vibroverb clone, a 40 watt Fender blackface circuit with a Weber 15". I think it sounds incredible and I'm completely sold on 15s for guitar amps.

But screamingdaisy is right, it doesn't give you more low end, it just tightens it up and sweetens the highs.

I run 2x12 from my jcm800, anda 15 from my bass amp, guitar going through both. And now when ever i play just the jcm800 it just sounds too thin. I know this is very different to playing a 15 througha guitar amp, but i recomend using different size speaker with what ever you can, i just need some 10's.

I played a cab loaded with a 12" and a 15" and it sounded great for cleans, not so good for Mesa distortion.

15'

my freind has 2 JTM 60 combos (the early 90's ones)
1 is the 1x15 combo
then i suggested he buy another one (he needed more volume)
so i found a 3x10 version on e bay and suggested it to him
with the 1x15 running the sound is very bassy and lacks punch
the 3x10 is exactly the opposite it could cut your ears on sometimes.
he now has a bracket thing which he attaches to both to hold them together (side by side) and the sound is great now he sets them up the same and runs them at the same time the sound is extremely well balanced and so loud it also looks very cool as they are identical in size

1 15 inch speaker is good but add some 10's and the sound is amazing very puchy and with tons of low end responce a very unique sound

Just an interesting story

I run an extension cab from my Vox Valtronix 60 watter which consists of a 15 incher plus a horn. Sounds great. Give a tad more low end.

Really rounds out the sound and help tighten it up a bit overall.

i'm thinking about getting my two twelve inch webers and adding a 1x15 cab down the line for my vt-22 combo. i finally played that 65 twin reverb custom 15... and nobody, you're so right. 15's rock me for guitar.
