Question Amp and tone advice: Mark V vs. Road King vs. Voodoo modded recto

I own a 2009 3-channel Dual Rectifier with a 4x12 recto cab. I've been endlessly searching for a tone similar to Alter Bridge, Limp Bizkit, 12 Stones, in other words, tighter, but still american sounding. I've tried pretty much everything:

1) Tubescreamer TS-7: tightened up my higher gain channels, but gets really annoying having to turn it off when going back to the clean channel, it still has a drive, even with it all the way down.
2) Boss GE-7 equalizer: as a clean boost. If I boosted the 800-1200Hz sliders, the high gain channel sounds awesome, but screws up my clean tone, if I'm to leave it on, as I like a mid-scooped clean tone.
3) EL34s: tightens up a bit, but I kinda prefer 6L6s for the clean channel.

So I've been doing some research and came across Voodoo amps, they offer mods for the recto. From what I've heard in their site, it's seems pretty awesome. But I also came across reviews of the Mesa Mark V, and fallen pretty much in love with it. And finally, there's the Mesa/Boogie Road King, which you can select which tubes you want for each channel.
Other than that tone I'm looking for, I need some versatility, an amp capable of chimey clean sounds, and tight low and high gain sounds. I play mostly post-grunge, but also ska-punk, jazz and metalcore, so it needs to cover these styles as best as it can, other than getting "that" tone.

Should I:
a) Have my Dual Recto modded at Voodoo?
b) Ditch my DR for a Road King?
c) Ditch my DR for a Mark V?

*(not the best place for a tuner, I know, but it works and fits the pedalboard).

the mark v is very well known among the metal circuit notably Lamb of God and should serve you well but ultimatly play what you can and get what sounds good to you. what i like may sound like **** to your ears.

How about an external, MIDI activated loop ?

Guitar System Controller GSC-3/ GSC-2 | G LAB

This thingy covers pretty much everything you would want to do, I know it can also be used as a channel switching controller (works with MESA stuff too).

Further more : It could open brand new doors for you, as I see in your signature you have some effects, and you would probably want to use them in combination with your clean/distorted channels.

Interesting.
I'm looking into other overdrive/boost pedals, namely the fulltone OCD. I hear it can be used as a clean boost as well, since I like the clean channel just before breakup, so maybe a good compromise can be found, any thoughts?

I'm surprised you can't nail those kind of sounds with that amp - it should be ideal. What guitar you using? Guitar and/or pickups could also be the culrpit.

I may have some clips kicking around of my old Dual Rec using the OCD as a boost, have to say, I liked it better then using a Tube Screamer type drive infront, was using a Maxon OD 808 before.

I've also used the OCD through a Mesa Studio .22 with great results, had a better distorting then the amp did, and as a boost, well, kicked it right where it counted!

Midi systems are awesome, always thought of using one when I had my Dual Rectifier 2 channel, but they always seemed pricey and a lot to haul. Then again, was using a rack gate. Have you tried using the GE-7 in the loop, only having it activated on the clean channel? There's a lot of knobs on the back of the amp you can really utilize!

Road King is awesome, too many knobs for me though to be honest, it's a tweakers amp, for those dudes who sit at home, or want every amp in one amp to find the right tone. May be worth it, but the bands you mentioned, seems like it'd be a waste

Mark V is it's own beast, yes, Lamb Of God has used the Mark series, also Chevelle, can't think of who else used a Mark IV or V, but they kick for what they do, respond to a boost even more actually. If I had the cash, I would myself, but so many knobs.... The 5 band EQ is nice to kick in though! I'd prefer a Mark IV myself, but simplicity is how I roll these days. Try one out yourself, cleans are quite close to what you can get from a fender prosonic.

Note on Dual Rectifiers: Turn the presence down, all the way, and start from there, unless you want the grind, and the secret is with 6L6s, Turn up the presence, and mids all the way, bass all the way, and use the highs as your presence for the sizzle, will give you the Three Days Grace, and Yellowcard buzzy grind. It's nice for wall of sound Just be on the modern channel and mode. Channel 3 that is, channel 2 has a totally different presence knob.
