buying new amp, need help
ok, so i'm trying to get myself a new amp
i've played with stacks for a long time now, so i want to change, plus i'm playing in a bigger bad right now (please read this as: need more power). the style here varies from mellow reggae tones, through sweet sharp (by this i mean the sound, not the skinhead) ska, to raw punk rock, with hints of blues and rock&roll. i have a gibson les paul with p90s and a jap strat with a di marzio fast track 2 on the bridge, i dont use many pedals, just a boss metal zone on the strat, and the DD3 for delays. Some wah is coming some day. i was thinking of some cab with a great hollow reverb and a really fat bassy distortion, like a marshall jcm900, or alike. I've tried it and it sounds great, though i couldnt find it very versatile. I've tried the twin reverb, great for clean sounds, so nice with the p90s. Any suggestion is welcome, even if i'm making any huge mistake, and you want to kill me for doing so. thanks in advance |

a jcm900 might work for what your playing, but try out other marshalls, i.e dsl series. (dsl50 and dsl100)
and the jcm800's are even better (then agian we all knew that!) 1959slp maybe? 1987x? welcome to the boards, and i hope you find yourself a nice amp. |

id say a twin with a distortion pedal besides the metalzone [metalzone wont do blues]. like a good solid overdrive.

If money isn't a big issue,I suggest :
1) Fender Concert Reverb:50w,A LOT OF VOLUME w/2great channels.VERY GOOD! 2) Marshall DSL50

i don't know if i completely understand what you're going for or not, but...
blackface bassmans are pretty cool. good mellow cleans, and if turn em up, good bluesy overdrive, and if you crank em, awesome rock tones. with p-90's they get you to social distortion - live at the roxy tone (raw rock tone, like you say). its worth checking out if you don't need multiple channels. |

JCM800
Mesa F-50 (edit:F-100=more power) might do the trick...maybe not, but check it out just in case

thanks all
ive been trying a laney 100 watt head with a laney box sounded real neat with, it just lacked reverb i like on clean tones, but anyway its real good anyway (redundantly good dirty channel), ill keep looking im in no rush. i'll set on a crusade or something to find the amp. i'll have to do some researching cause here in this country some of those amps like the blackstones rarely get here, or are just astronomically priced. boyecho, ive tried my metal zone with the p90s and i must say it sucks, i prefer the amps od channel, any good pedal recomendation?, one that fits lots of styles? fuzz?? im lost theres an ocean of pedals out there, just have to go try them all. thank you lucky13sp ill sure have fun oh and about money its always a problem, sometimes a good problem, sometimes a bad one thank you again (re dun dance) |
