Class 5 Combo

I need your expert opinion on this amp.
I'll tell you where I stand as of now.
I have a JCM-900 as my main rig,
and a marshall haze 40 sort of like a back up.
The Haze is good, but the clean sounds leave a bit to be desired.
I'm wondering if a Class 5 might help me in that department.
I've heard really positive things about them.
My concern is that its a 1 channel amp, and I'm really a 2 channel guy
(always prefered my amp distortion to that of a pedal)
I know this amp has some great tones, but can you get it to kick if you crank it?

I am sure some of the other guys will have "Real World" experience with the two, but.....
If you do not like the clean/head room you get from the Haze 40, how do you think you will improve that with a single ended 5 watt amp.?
Maybe I am reading you wrong......
You will not have any problem getting the 5 "to kick", you will have a problem with clean tones.
best

What do you dislike about the cleans? Not enouh headroom, not enough grit, do you want more sparkle or do you want it deep and clear?

Only to realize those pedals were hooked up to the bass!

The cleans on the Haze are PIERCING.
The amount of treble is completley insane.
It actually hurts my ears.
I thought it was just mine, but I tried one at a music store and had the exact same problem.
The other thing I find is that the EQ panel is not balanced.
For example, the treble is piercing on the clean channel, so to compensate I roll the treble WAAAAY back.
Then when I click onto the dirty channel the treble is completley gone.

You want a 2 channel amp with separate eqs, 'nough said. Or i'd just use a compressor on the clean channel of the Haze

Seperate EQ pedal as well. Could also be the upper mids making it so harsh, I've had that in amps where trimming treble and upper mids made things alot more pleasant.

MXR Dyna comp is a nice dark compressor. Are you using your neck pickup with some tone rolled off?
