Crate vs. Peavey vs. Randal vs. Line6

I've got no ways of affording a rack, so I might as well buy myself a combo/halfstack. I'm looking at 5 different amps right ow, I just need a little more input. Here they are :

Line 6 Spider 3 150 (212)
Crate GTX212
Peavey Valveking (112)
Randall something 50T + Behringer 412
Line 6 Spider 3 HD75 +Behringer 412

If you have another recomdation, i play 80s metal and my budget is about $700 Canadian, which about $530 U.S.

Out of those, the valveking wins hands down. Get the 1x12 and then you'll have some money left over for pedals!

definately the valveking. the line6s are terrible unless youre only using them for queit bedroom use, then they sound ok (ish). dont really know about the crate or randall.
oh, and most hippies are kinda poor so youre better off ripping off a charity or finding a rich girlfriend.

Not really a "pround (sic) Krank owner" then?

I'd go Valveking, then get a 2x12 closed back cab to go with it.

+1 easy, cheap, and versatile

Avoid Line 6 Spider amps
Crate makes some decent tube amps, nothing special about their other amps
Randall is good but you'll want a good cab to go with it

For metal, a head and cab is a better idea than a combo.

The Valveking head is about $500 Cdn, and you can find a good 2x12 for under $300.

Check out Avatar cabs

click on Scratch, Dent, Overstock in the top right hand corner, they have two 2x12 cabs with Vintage 30's for under $300.

P.S. Where in Canada do you live?

I'm a little late answering, butthe Krank thing is a joke, i put it there to see what people would say. I know lots of people hate Kranks.

thanks foe the opinions, and i'm to young for a girlfriend still

Iced Guardian: Saskatchewan, so it's pretty dry in terms of music stores.

I've narrowed it down to two amps:PeaveyValveking, an Line6 Spider 3 150.

The Peavey seems good, but I play songs by bands that don't sound the same: Motley Crue & A7X for example. So Then I would have to use alot of pedals or write down settings for every band/song. This isn't a huge problem, it's more of an inconvinience.

The Line6 has all the memory room for different sounds I looked through most of the 400 presets. The problem is that it weights a ton.

Go with the Valveking.

Avoid the Spider.

I would go ValveKing. You can get a couple good stompboxes to round out the sounds.
