dsl 100 advice

new question for me guys/gals :-)

in about 3 months im going to get a gigable amp. After much looking for amps that can "cut it" and isnt one that everyone else in my town has....Iv considered the dsl100

My question(s) is, the band I want to get started will have "metal", "rock","hardcore" and some other styles, mixed with keyboards.enough about that....how versitile is the dsl?:-)

could anyone record some soundclips for me? like metal tone, bluesy tone, soft chord/picking work, etc. I like all sorts of music, so i dont want a one trick pony, but i also dont want a OTT line 6 jobby.

btw, Im not a tube purist, so if anyone one could recommend a good mid priced amp be it SS, valve VS whatever...all comments would be welcomed :-)

thank you
matthew

I just got a dsl100 and it is an extremely versatile amp, I still don't believe that it could do like hardcore or thrash, but its still great.

I just don't think I would use it as an amp for hardcore, I guess it could do hardcore, but I think the crunch is more suited to classic/hard rock, punk and such, and the lead channel is well, suited to lead, I'm not into hardcore, but from my understanding hardcore is suited to hi gain amps, which I don't think this amp is. Just my opinion.

thanks for the quick replys and the bump too :-) lol. do the people who have the dsl100 have any effects they use with it ?

would you guys/girls be able to record some samples for me? from what slcrock said...I feel very good about buying this amp:-)I would be buying the behringer 4x12 for it, as its only £150 and that seems good..and behringers other gear has surprised me in the past.and heck..its only £150...cant loose out much there anyways :-) if the behringer isnt what I like..in the future I may get another cab, any suggestions? I could pretty much spend up to £600 on the new cab, but that wouldnt for a good while yet.

Iv heard things about the BBE SM being used...how does it work, and if i were to buy it for the dsl100, would it benifite my sound?

thanks again
matt

Hello hello hello...

I have a DSL 100, and it certainly is'nt a one trick pony. Not by far I play all kinds of things with it, including rock, blues, indie, alternative etc, and it's the perfect match. I've never really tried to play any metal with it, so you'll have to ask someone else. I know a few people that use one for metal though. As for cabs, the Behringer should be ok, but it won't be the best match for a DSL 100 sound wise. If you can afford one, an Orange 4x12 would be a great match, and you'd have change from £600. I can record a few things, I'm sure, but my recording setup is less than ideal. I'll see what I can do for you.

Thank would be very cool of you. do you use msn? that might be the best way to send a file and I could ask you questions :-)

the behringer id be buying for the cheapness and that iv heard songs done thru it....i liked it. if i dont, in the future ill buy a new cab. with the amp id be buying it on pay per month, but the cab would be paid straight up.

my msn is falloutweed@hotmail.com

PLEEEEZZZ don't get the behringer cab, they are among the worst I've ever tried, I played the dsl100 thru one at the store and it just sucks the tone out of your amp. If you need something cheap, get a used cab, or a 2x12.
