Fender Super Reverb Reissue

What are your all's opinions on the Reissue? I've never played one, only the silverfaces and I loved them. So how do they compare? What's the better buy?

thanks,

not worth all the money, but amazingly close sounding to the originals. you can purchase a 70's super for 900 dollars. i put new tubes in mine and it sounds so so good.

No, thats way too much, I think I could get one for about $600. I guess that would be worth it right?

Sure it has, everything has, but I was looking for a silverface/reissue comparison, not reissue/original(blackface).

k...well. the concept is really the same. The non-master silvers have the BEST potential to sound the best. but the reissues have a better reliability. Silver face and reissue are the same price. but silverface may need a cap job and new speakers to surpase the reissues in tone.

If you find a silverface that sounds really good..get it. if ANYTHING seeems fishey on the silverface. Skip it...lotso lotso lotso problems with vintage amps.

I had a super reverb reissue for 2 years and LOVED it to death. In fact I miss it even to this day. So I suppose it just depends on what matters more to you (see first & Second paragarphs)

BTW wasn't trying to be snotty...just pointing you in the right direction

go reissue, used reissue, leave the early silverface's for me!

but honestly, if you're buying a reissue new, go original blackface for 200 bucks more...

but since you seem to be talking about a used reissue for 600, do it! i would.

also i second the early silverfaces to be the best value. maybe even one of the best amps of all time. they are heavy and worth it.

i put GT mullard RI AX7's in and GT 6L6's in, plus an EHX rectifier.. and it is very very nice. and pedals react better to it.
after all that, i spent 800CDN total on the thing.
thats a vintage super for half the price of a new one.

Just stay away from a silverface!!! They are old - and: UNRELIABLE, because they are OLD!!! New Blackface Reissues sound like the originals, when THEY where NEW - in a couple of years the speakers are broken in and it sounds like an old one...

I once compared a ´71 Silverface with a 2001 Blackface Reissue and an ORIGINAL ´63 Vibroverb (!!!) in my favorite store, where they know very much about old fenders (the tech has an old Silverface Pro Reverb and a ´65 Bandmaster, one of the salesmen has an original ´65 deluxe reverb!) - all three were the same price, and guess what: I did like the reissue most, second was the old SRV-type Vibroverb (which was in very good condition, but nevertheless much noisier), last was the Silverface Super (noisy, harsher sounding!!!)...

Many old farts in the business use reissues according to reliability reasons and because they sound as good as the originals (fender did it wrong for a very long time, but now they do it right again...)

Greets, Laa

i dare you to drop the RI super out of the back of a moving truck.

fender build quality now is more consistent.. but not good.
again, all are entitled to their opinions; but the silverface supers were the best amps of that era IMO, i've heard the vibrolux, the twin, the princeton, and the deluxe. trust me, the super is the most bang for the buck and are relatively easy to find. i haven't had a problem with mine and i play every day, gig at least three times a month, and i definitely don't baby mine.

and i got the my super from a guy locally here in BC. so nope. not ebay.
