a low-noise dark constant hum is probably a grouding issue. Is it an older twin reverb? You could probably poke around inside the amp with a chop stick to find if there are any broken grounding solder joints.

If its more of a waivering tone type of hum, check your preamp tubes. More often then not the reverb driver tube may be bad since those amps burn through those rather quickly. Tap on each of the preamp tubes and see if the hum changes (worse or better) then replace that tube.

either way, theres a good chance its a simple fix.

(btw, one thing I need to mention, make sure there are no fans/tvs or other type of electrical equipment near your amp's transformers. That will cause hum/buzzing.

A slight wavy hum in the tremelo is not unusual. A loud hum would be though. Do you also get a hum from the reverb? Does it go away when you turn it off at the footswitch, or turn it to zero?

Im not sure if you said that you guitar was un pluged from the amplfier or not.If your using a guitar with single coil pickups the are really bad about hum.If you already tried that then check your cables and maybe move your amp to a diffrent outlet. When preamp tubes go band they usally go out which would cause a decrease in sound or hum.Does the hum get worse if you turn the gain up or master volume up with the guitar unpluged?I try that.
