Help me choose a Head!

ok i'll make it easy on you:
the cabinet will probably be Marshall 1936 2X12
IN THE HEAD I NEED:

*WARMNESS (TUBES)
*EFFECTS LOOP
*NICE REVERB
*KICK ASS DISTORTION (gonna be my main dist, something like a soldano or a bogner xtc....)
*SIMPLE EQ
*I WANT THE CLEAN TO BE CLEAN!
*70-100 W

I don't mind that will have 1 reverb for both channels but volume must be seperated (a volume control for each channel) and eq seperation will be nice, but optional....

one last thing: let's keep it the normal companies not boutiqe
keep it marshall and the likes

i'd recommend a marshall tsl 60 or tsl 100 head. (i have a tsl 100) it's one heavy mofo, but sounds great. i can play anything - jazz, right thru to metal. great reverb, 2 fx loops, 3 channels, absolutely tops!

I think you should DEFINITELY try out the Krank Revolution 100 watt head (www.krankamps.com). I have it and it has a killer distortion. It also has a clean channel that I have yet to break up and I play at some LOUD levels. For exact specs check out the site. Otherwise, it had separate effects loops for clean/distortion, very eq for both channels, volume for clean channel and 2 volumes for distortion channel, which lets you use it as a makeshift boost. This is NOT a 3 channel amp, rather the 2nd volume for the distortion channel lets you keep your same tone, but at a louder volume. I love that!!! So many times you have the 3 channel thing (clean, crunch, distortion), but the crunch is so different from the distortion that is nearly impossible to use them together and sound nice. You either LOVE these amps or you don't like them at all. The good thing is that they will let you test drive it for a month and if you don't like it you can take it back and get your money back. It doesn't get much better than that!

You can hear clips of it on their site, or you can check out my band's website (www.bigredswitch.net) and listen to some colver songs that we play. They are all live recordings, so you will hear what it really sounds like without any studio tricks. It ROCKS!!! I hope this helps.

Ben

Marshall DSL 100. Has everything you described...aye, it lacks the seperate EQ, but I have it and i'd recomend it. I think you can get by with a 50 watt head, but then again, i have a 4x12.

Stay away from the Krank! Unless you want a good clean tone only! I bought one and returned it, it was so crappy! I know of many others who have also returned their heads! WARNING!
Their website is complete hype and the dirty channel sounds NOTHING like the clips.

like Malcol m203 said, get the Marshall JCM200 DSL 100 watt head, i plannig on gettin one and they are BLOODY OUTSTANDING. It has every thing you want! But on the other hand their really expensive, like US$950, but its well worth the investment.

The DSL sounds quite a bit better than the TSL in my opinion and most people agree with me. Also, I talked to a band who tours with JCM2000s exclusively and they both use DSLs now since in their experience the TSL has a tendency to crap out under heavy stress, too many gadgets or something. I personally would go for a 4x12 because of the sound benefits but if you aren't interested in hauling that ****er around all the time a 2x12 will sound pretty good as well.

Okay, the amp you despribed (if you're looking for a Marshall-esque dist) is the Bogner Shiva. GREAT sounding amp which does one of the best Fender cleans I've heard coupled with the BEST Marshall distortion I've heard. Reverb (must get the option) is GREAT! Catch is you're looking around $2k . If that's in your range, definately check one out. If not, look at a Marshall DSL (maybe a TSL, but to me, the DSL sounds better).
