I keep killing tubes
I have three tube amps and none of them are ever working at the same time because I keep blowing up the tubes. I never turn any of them up past half way, I use the appropriate speaker loads. I don't have the kind of cash to keep buying tubes every month! The only thing that makes me wonder is I use alot of fuzz and octave fuzz. Also, the electricity in my apartment is a little cheesy, as in whenever the toaster is on all the lights dim. Any input, anyone have the same problem? Thanks

What sort of tube amps?
If the bias is setable have them biased really cold. It doesn't sound like your running them particularily hard. That said, bad power is bad for all electrical equipment. |

Thanks for the reply.
I have a 12W 1X12Fender Musicmaster Bass amp, a 60W 4X10 Ampeg VT40, and a 60W 2X12 Fender Deville amp. I don't have a clue about the bias. Next time I take them in I will ask about that. |

Nice collection!
I think that they all are adjustable bias (Not sure and didn't check). If your electricy supply is continually low volting (browning out) then as there is a quite strong probability that this is actually the problem. If it was just spiky you could use a line conditioner. Perhaps you could get a UPS for you amps .Either way discuss it (the problem in general) with your amp tech next time you see them. |

ampeg vt40 is fixed bias. i have its two beefier brothers [v4 and vt-22]
now, are you taking your amps to a tech? or are you just putting new tubes in without arseing with the bais?
