Tell me if this thread already exists.

Are there any famous guitar players who generally stuck with solid state rigs? I already know Dimebag Darrell and Bernard Sumner did.

I heard B.B King plays through solid states, but that's just hearsay.

johnny greenwood has been using a fender solid state for years (alongside a vox ac-30).
les paul uses a tech 21 trademark amp.
dan donegan was using a randall v-max around the believe album.

Technically that's a hybrid amp.

Before anyone says "It's just a solid state amp with a tube in it", how many of your tube amps don't have transistors in?

(I'm quite aware there's a few)

James Hetfield uses a JC-120 for his clean sounds, quite possibly one of the best amps out there for cleans... right up there with the silverface twins.

That´s been about 20 years ago... I think last time he used that was on the re-recording of "A Forest" for the Mixed Up album in 1990... Since then he mostly used tube amps like the Vox AC30, Fender Twin, Marshall Bluesbreaker etc...

Currently he uses Orange AD30 HTCs and an older Ampeg VL-503 tube combo on stage - but he occasionly uses an old Peavey Stereo Chorus on stage, too, as well as a vintage Peavey Musician top for his Fender bass VIs - both Peaveys are SS amps...

Greets, Dominik
