Octave/Fuzz damaging amps?

Any of you guys familiar with the MXR blue box pedal? I'm probably just superstitious about this but some input wouldn't hurt. Is there any reason at all that using this pedal (plugged straight into the front of the amp) would cause any damage to the amplifier?

I'm only asking for two reasons, for one, I had been using this pedal through a Laney combo amp, and the amp started crapping out after a few months and it was brand new. I'm pretty sure the amp was just defective, I got it repaired under warranty... But only months later it crapped out again >:[ and this was after some moderate use of that pedal

I don't think it's likely that the pedal was the culprit. The other reason I was asking is just because of the nature of the sounds the pedal makes. It does multiple low octaves mixed with some fuzz. If you're not familiar with it, it can often sound similar to that 8-bit electronic video game music stuff. But sometimes it can make abrupt clipping noises also.

Is there any reason whatsoever this pedal might mess up a nice tube amp (or blow speakers in a cabinet for that matter)? I'm planning on upgrading my rig soon and I'm going to be weary about running this pedal.

I doubt if it would damage the amp. It could damage the speakers and the damaged speakers could damage the amp. It's one of the facts of life that if you play loud and dirty you will blow some stuff up. Some stuff blows up easier than others. Btw... If something is going to fail it usually will at the worst possible moment!

what laney combo do you have. I have two ss laney's and neither have even trembled at any pedal Ive tried on them. Actually, the only problem i have had with them is dark tone.

Yes I guess that is fact of life that pushing the amp hard will eventually wear it down anyways.. I guess my amp must have been a lemon. Because I've never heard bad things about Laney amps, which was part of the reason I got one. Just to clarify it is an LC30, which has tubes.
