A plauseable idea - Rehousing?

I'm considering pulling apart my Peavey Studio Pro 112. Take out the amp, put it in a head style housing, and use the ext. speaker out to run a marshall 4x12" (both rated @ 8Ohms)

And keep the MG100HDFX for backup.

Ideas? Comments?

EDIT:

I should include more info. I'm playing in Drop A, using VERY high output passive humbuckers.

And I'll be chugging and soloing. Sorted.

Well, do you like the sound of the amp? If so, why not just save yourself some trouble and money and not rehouse. Then just use the amp to power the cab using the external out.

+1

Why make it harder than it needs to be?

If it's a portability issue, grow some muscles ya emo wimp.

My back told me off after the last gig

2 flights of stairs with 2 4x12"s and a double bass kit.

Not a good idea!

I was thinking long term, we'll see how it goes.

I love the sound of the amp! That's why i wanna do it!

Don't you have bandmates to carry their own stuff?

Yup, but you can't expect someone to carry a whole drum kit by themselves, or a 4x12 themselves

Get the bassist and singer to do it, it's not like they usually have heavy gear, besides I'm sure you could bully the band to do it, I've seen them.

I love the way we have a completely different conversation going on here than on MSN, yet neither of us mention it.

I wouldn't trust my bassist with my amp, even if it is an MG

Threaten to detune his bass, and DON'T TELL HIM WHICH STRING.

We play enough jokes on him as it is. Last gig we did we all decided we had to poke him all at least once on stage.

Yes, the laughs we have.

I'm considering the same thing with my Fender Concert, because altogether the combo weighs in at about 160 lbs.
Is there anywhere I could get a head to put it in?
