Mesa told Motherhumbucker to get a Hotplate.

Motherhumbucker told me to get a Hotplate.

Now, I'm telling you.

And the cycle continues young padawan.

When you talk about going over 13:00, is that on the master or gain. And what is your output knob set at, or do you turn that function (output knob) off and not use an effects loop.
The settings I'm talking about concern the master output.

When setting the channel master, the lower you set it, the more the preamp dirt will dominate your sound. The higher you set it, the more power amp dirt will dominate your sound.

What I do is set the Master output just above 15:00 and leave it. Then, I fiddle with the gain and channel master until I find something that's the right balance between the pre and power amps for distortion. I do this for all my channels (two in my case, three in yours). Then, I switch between the channels and adjust the channel masters until the volumes are close enough that there's no huge jumps in volume when switching. Lastly, I re-tweek the gain for the new channel master settings.

And that's just the gain/volume. You still have the EQ to go......of course, no one said Mesa's were easy.

Could you crank the master and gain knobs in the front and keep the output knob lower to compensate for the huge amounts of volume.
That'll give you lots of preamp dirt. It'll give it that thin, buzzy sound.

Another question is could use the effects loop and turn the send knob down and turn up the gain and master. Anyone who owns this amp and knows what i'm talking about i'd love to hear your comments.
This acomplishes the same thing as the last comment. You're still dropping the signal level before it reaches the power amp, you're just using a different knob to do it.

The only way I know of to get power amp dirt is to hit the power amp hard. The only way you can do that and keep the volume down is to lower the signal level after the power amp, and to do that, you need an attenuator of some sort.

wow man thanks alot!

I wish I had more time before my gig tonight. I guess now is not a good time to fiddle with what I have set. I'll mess with it tomorrow.

Try and talk to as many people as possible about your tone, whether they liked it or not, and what they did or didn't like about it.

I've got a Hotplate from the advice of Screamingdaisy, and noticing a few others that loved them.

I love it. Get a Hotplate. Never before have I played my Rectifier at 9:00pm, just after getting home from work.
