Spoiled by the Bassman?

When I moved back to my home town I bought a couple of amp heads a Peavey VTM60 and a modded '68 Fender Bassman.

I was at my practice spot yesterday cranking my two amps to see what I wanted to use for my upcoming show. I fiddled with my VTM for an hour and could not dial out the shrillness. It was very trebley with both bass boosts on, mid boost on, one gain boost, and the presence and treble controls dialed way down.

Then I got to thinking, is it just because I'm so used to running my Fender Bassman all the time? It's got a ton of bass on tap and it's easy for me to dial out the highs. I'm thinking I might just like using old bass tube heads for my rig.

Maybe I should try to trade off my VTM for another Bassman or Traynor YBA or something?

*shrug* I think I'm spoiled by bass amps.

Maybe you should just try a different speaker.

Give in to the Bassman. Give in to your master...

Or try a different speaker. What speakers are you running now? I have found that most Peavey's do sound a bit shrill, it seems inherent.

Or just give in to the Bassman. Chances are, that Peavey was based of of some amp that was based off of some amp that was based off of some amp that was based off of some amp that was based off of the Bassman. In some degree or another.

and on the 8th day he looked down upon Leo and smiled and said it was good.

modern translation:
thanks Leo for the ****.ing sweet amp.

love the fender amps. especially all the 60's stuff. even the 70's stuff is good too. (just not as sought after)

on another note. religion is cool for some people. some people just take these jokes for fun as intentioned. some people will always bring up religion on a forum and make a mess. if you are of the latter lighten up.
