Suggest me a speaker!!!

I LOVE the mids and bass from vintage 30s, but I can't stand the shrill high frequency grainyness they have!

What speakers have essentially the same response without that horrible brittle shrillness?

I have a cab loaded with g12t-75s but it is too 'scooped' sounding.

What do you suggest? I'm thinking along the lines of greenbacks, what do you guys think?

I play an ENGL powerball, and 5150IIs, and I play metal.

G12H30s are the middle ground between V30s and Greenbacks.

I recommend a mix of G12H30s and V30s. They balance really well and still sound agressive.

G12h30s? Thanks, I'll check them out! I'm currently running a mix of g12t75s and v-30s. Even mixed with another speaker, the v30s sound harsh to me. My other stock marshall cabs (with the g12t-75s) don't sound brittle, but they sound muffled and scooped.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I had the same problem that you described so i ended up with 2 G12H30's and 2 G12T75's in an X pattern in my Marshall Cab. Definitely changed the sound of my amp, more punch, sweeter high end & midrange without sounding brittle, it's great!!!

+1 on the G12H30s. They have more bass than the V30s without the shrill highs. I love my cab which has a combo of the 2 in an X pattern.

They look very nice but I can't try one out before buying, which would make a very expensive risk!!!! If I ever see a tonetubby/brown cab, I'll be sure to give it a test! Thanks for the heads up pete!

G12h30s? Ok, I gather that they sound thick and full, but do they sound clear/cut through as well as v30s?

I was talking to a couple of guys that A/B the G12H Heritage with they Chinese G12H and they all agreed that the Heritage model was far clearer with a much deeper tone. Much more expensive but check them out.

How much is a new Celestion G12m-25 or G12T-75 type speaker in the UK?

If you want to talk Eminence (Red Coat/Patriot) let me know .... I've been casually researching them since they came out.

My Cage cabinet has MojoTone British Vintage speakers in it. I don't know which type but I don't believe they're the heavy magnet type. They sound great, very focused. The response must be damn near perfect because I have the most fantastic harmonics as a result of the upgrade.

Eminence Speakers
Thanks dude, I had a look at the eminence speakers, but there seems to be a LOT of them. I'm not sure where to start as I don't have as much experience with eminence! Please talk me through them!

I can get g12m-25s for about £40 and g12t-75s for about £35. I already have an assload of g12t-75s in various cabinets and mixed with v30s other cabs. Incredibly I have a LOT of cabs, and no speakers that I REALLY like. I was toying with the idea of buying a pair of framus cobra cabs, but that plan seems to be quickly going out the window...

I'll put an Eminence snap shot page together over the weekend. If I don't find it's too subjective I'll post but if it is I'll simply PM the thoughs to you.

That's why I was asking about prices. Here in North Americal you can save 30% with Eminence over Celestion and I've yet to meet someone or read about someone being totally upset about them.

The Gear Page loves them, Roccaforte amp builder and cork sniffer loves them, my local guys love them, the few I tried were excellent. Plus, more wattage handling can't hurt.

A: None. There is nothing wrong with the light bulb; it's conditions are improving every day. Any reports of its lack of incandescence are delusional spin from the liberal media. That light bulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effect. Why do you hate freedom? Why don't you support our troops?

Thanks man, I look forward to the snapshot page!

Also thanks for the tip MSI-brat, I made some home made ones a while back for a freinds' cab, and they seemed to work! I never thought of making some for myself.
