Twin Reverb vs Deluxe Reverb

Hey guys, long time no see!
I bet this question has been asked before, but I'm looking to buy either a Fender Twin Reverb or a Deluxe Reverb to use as a main amp at gigs.

The music I play is a indie rock/pop/punk thing, with jangly Telecaster guitar sounds.
Currently I have a Fender Blues Junior which I've had a for a while and have been using it for practice and small gigs. So far its been an awesome amp (great tone) and I usually play it with the volume at around 6 to 7 to be heard over my drummer.

However, I'm looking for an amp thats just overall louder than the Blues Junior with a simliar Fender sound. Also I want something with enough headroom to play clean at a higher volume as I usually dirty up the amp with an overdrive pedal. (Also something that doesn't need to be mic-ed up at a gig with around 30-50 people).

I know the Twin Reverb has a massive 85 watts and can get great clean sounds, but would a Deluxe Reverb be suitable for what I do? I know Twin Reverbs get intensely loud, and have a ton of headroom, but would it be better to just upgrade by 7 watts?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
~James

The Deluxe is only 22 Watts and the Twin 85. Also the twin is a 2x12 the deluxe 1x12.

If you're really after super clean tone that you can then overdrive go with the twin. If you want something that is easier to overdirve go with the deluxe.

Both will give you that fender clean but the twin is going to stay clean and make your ears bleed... In a good way.

The Deluxe has more than just volume going for it against your Blues Jr. It sounds bigger and better over all. with a deeper reverb and better breakup. If you really think you need more amp than 22 watts, try a Super Reverb. The thing with the Deluxe Reverb is that you need to run it right up to subtle breakup then back off just a tad. Thats when it really sings. It should be all that you need for the size crowds you're talking about. If you're playing to a larger crowd than that, I'd really suggest that you mic as many instruments as possible. your PA mains will have a better spread than most any guitar cab.

Hey guys, thanks for the help!

@Timoren- Haha, your response was what I was looking for. Right now, for the gigs we play, my Blues Junior does fine, so I think 22 watts will undoubtedly be better in terms of headroom and breakup. Also i'll go with your advice with micing the instruments with a P.A system. We try to mic as much as possible, but so far the house systems we've played on only have so many mic inputs. But anyway, I'm going with your advice. The twin is great, but I don't think I need all that power, not mention the weight as well. Thanks man!

You're very welcome. Be sure and give us an update once you've gotten your new amp and had a chance to run it threw its paces.
