ID a Bass please!

Was just wondering if anyone could ID the bassbeing played in this Video of Lynyrd Skynyrd on the Old Grey Whistle Test by Leon Wilkeson (I presume) -

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama - Live at The Old Grey Whistle Test (High Quality) - YouTube

Looks like some sort of Non-Reverse Thunderbird with a Fender neck....! If anyone knows what it is or has any info on the bass it would be good to hear it...!
Cheers

You are probably right. It seems like those guys used whatever was sitting around back then.

Cheers Jonny!
Done a bit of digging, and apparently, far from being 'any old thing laying about' it is actually one of John Entwhistle's Fenderbirds! John had given it to Leon. John had had them made as he preferred the T-bird sound and P-bass feel (he said that when he was using P-Basses at big gigs and turned the treble up he would lose the bottom end but found T-bird necks too thin), so combined the two: -

* Gibson Thunderbird bridge hardware and electronics
* Custom mahogany Thunderbird IV-clone bodies (slightly thicker than a standard Thunderbird IV body to accept the Fender bolt-on neck — possibly the same thickness as a Fender Precision; which improved the tone, according to John).
* Fender Precision maple neck, bolted on.
* Height adjustment screws on the pickups were altered by Peter Cook to be slightly countersunk so John didn’t tear his fingernails on them.

So there we are.....!
