Michael Angelo's shiznit....

from the Michael Angelo official website.
Guitars: Dean guitars

Pick-ups: Primarily Seymour Duncan. Pearly Gates in the neck position and a JB in the bridge position. Some of his guitars have DiMarzio’s and EMG ‘s also.

Strings: Ernie Ball .009 to .042 for soloing. Thicker gauge strings are also used for dropped D and detuned guitars. The Acoustic gauge is normally .010 to .046 or .011 to .052 .

Amplifiers: Marshall JCM 800, 900 and JMP 1 amps and pre amps. Also, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier heads. (i've seen him use randalls all the time too.)

Cabinets: 4x12 Marshall cabinets loaded with Celestion vintage 30’s, Greenbacks in mono and stereo.

FX Pedals: Original, vintage design Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. Boss Digital delay set at approximately 310 to 320 milliseconds. The TS 9 is plugged in through the guitar chain. The Digital delay is plugged in through the amplifier FX loop.

Outboard gear, pre amps and FX: Eventide Eclipse, Rocktron Intellifex, Rocktron Replifex, vintage original prototype Digitech Whammy Pedal, Cry Baby Wah pedal, Vintage Digitech 256 multi FX units, Rocktron Chameleon pre amp, Rocktron Voodoo Valve pre amp and Boss OD 2 over drive pedals.

Guitar picks: Dunlop Jazz 3’s in black. Michael has used “teardrop shaped picks since he was a boy. He always uses Dunlop Jazz 3’s for soloing-in concert or in the studio. Other pick sizes and thickness’ vary for acoustic guitar.

I wanted to post this cuz this guy is the fastest player i've seen. He makes Yngwie, Satriani, Vai, Hammet, and Petrucci seem really slow. Anybody here see him live?

Michael Angelo Batio

Does anyone else in this forum adore his tone?

http://www.angelo.com/batio_s_equipment.html

I found that.

I am interested in getting his tone and I think new Dimarzio pickups (im gonna get the JP ones) and what type of amp you think? I tried the Recto, not even close way to fizzy, and rigidy. So i'm guessing one of the Marshalls. Which one would be the best? 800? I have all his pedals so that isnt really a problem.

Thanks =)

I don't think you'll find too many fans. Most people watch a clip of him, go "Holy sh*t!"......and when they realize that's the only trick he does they shut the video off and forget about until the next time someone posts another "Check this out" thread.

yeah i know. I think people totally underestimate him in creativity. I have everyone of his albums, especially the new one. and i think he has a lot creativiy and a sense of melody. Its really just a different stle of vai. But i just love his tone. I think hes like the only guitarist these day that completely keeps his tone dry (only sometimes using delay, but still no reverb)

At the speeds he's going he doesn't need delay/verb....

Anyway, his shred stuff always sounded like a boosted Marshall to me.

When I met him at a trade show last year he was playing Krank with a Boss Delay and Chorus. Sorry didn't bother to look what models. He was rippin' pretty good.
