I've wondered this for a long time too! Surprisingly hard to find info...

here's what I've learned from "Dan Wiley's" Homepage:

"Modest Mouse
Isaac Brock: some PRS looking SSH guitar with a whammy
silverface fender Twin and Super Six (6x10", 100 watts)
uses both at the same time, according to the guitar tech
I think he uses them miked out of phase on albums for that sound
boss BD-2 blues driver for slight drive,
Z Vex super duper 2-in-1 "for the really loud stuff"
he really wrangles/strangles that guitar in concert!!
i took a picture at a 2004 pre-good news gig: his setup in order:
boss PS-5 super shifter then BD-2 blues driver, 3 boss digital delays,
Z-Vex super duper 2-in-1, Morley A/B/Y selector into:
fender silverface twin and super six reverb

Dan Gallucci: fat telecaster (neck humbucker) thru a fender head and 4x12 cab
I think it's a retolexed blonde fender...it has white knobs. is either a bassman, bandmaster, or tremolux
my guess is a bassman because of the power requirements of being in a rock band
and competing with two 100+ watt amps from isaac. DG's guitar was a lot quieter than mr. brock's at the gig...
hard to hear actually"

I'm curious to know what that PRS looking guitar is as well...

That's quite the rig! I can hear the gear he uses in the albums....makes sense. I'm confused as to what "miked out of pahse means". I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to techniques like that.

Those wicks guitars are really cool BTW! Prices start at $3,500.00! That's quite a price. Crazy.

modest mouse were touring here around new year... i saw them on the 30th december. i got a few clear pics, i'll go through them now...

brock's guitar rack: aside from two wicks guitars (one a dark mahogany colour and one a lighter tinted maple colour with silver swirls painted on it) there was also a sunburst jazzmaster, a 5 string banjo and some kind of odd 12-string solidbody that looked like it had a resonator cone in it (possibly). i could only see about 20% of the body. the only guitar he actually used was the wicks with silver swirls.
dan gallucci isn't with the band anymore... but his replacement (johnny marr!!!) used a white jazzmaser with white p/g for the whole set.

i couldn't see any pedals because the monitors were in the way. shoulda had a closer look when i got thrown over the barrier...

brock's amps were a pair of super sixes, and marr played through a super reverb and classic styled marshall head (jtm45?) and 1960av cab (all looked very clean and may have been RI) but they were probably hire jobs considereing we're on a different AC voltage over here.

if anyone wants a couple of pics pm me, especially if you think you could identify the mystery 12 string despite most of the body being obscured.

Hah I don't think Issac has ever owned a pedalboard. All the clips I've seen of him, the pedals have just been sprawled all over the floor like that. I like how he has his favourite settings drawn out on masking tape. I should do that, most of my pedals never change.
