'69 Thinline Telecaster
I'm thinking about getting a Fender '69 Thinline Telecaster, like these.
How are the pickups on these, output- and tone-wise? All my guitars have humbuckers so I want a single coil guitar to balance them out. I'm also thinking of getting a Danelectro, how would one of the new Dano's compare sound-wise?

i've always been a bit partial to those. it's probably all jay from sloan's fault. the reissues tend to be kinda hit or miss. i've had a bunch of friends over the years that used 'em and some were fan-frikkin'-tastic others were pretty crappy. i definitely wouldn't buy any guitar sight unseen. especially something like that.

Sooooo glad we have some Sloan fans here. Jay's Tele tone is to die for. Of the two Tele thinlines available, I much prefer the '69 over the '72. Something about that bridge p/up. It has to be a s/c.

The mahogany-bodied MIM '69 Thinlines are superb IMO -- much better than the MIJ/CIJ versions. Both pickups are quite good and replacing them is far from mandatory.
