Scored a near-mint 2010 USA G&L ASAT classic off the eBay.

If you've played one of these, you know what I'm talkin' 'bout. Plays like butter and sounds more like a Tele than any Tele I tried.

Photos to come once I'm less tired, and I re-learn how to do photos here. Just had to mark the occasion. It's been so long, GuitarGeek.

congrats. i was looking for a thinline version, but they were too far out of my price range. i sat in my local music store and played one for a good hour though and loved it.

I got it for 841 USD, including shipping and a very posh Fender hardshell case with crushed blue velvet interior and ****. A little more than I was originally going to shell out, but for the price it's an amazing guitar. The pickups sound a little hotter than the Fenders I've tried, but with amazingly low noise, and without sacrificing clarity and tone for higher output. Very versatile even with just two pickups. Plenty of jangly brightness.

Nice score, cool color, and great guitar. I think you did good on the price, its worth it. I like a lot of the G&L's, but I have a soft spot for the Asat Classic, and S-500's. I love that you can get all of those great tones with the volume backed off, and it doesn't eat into the tone. So if you end up needing more volume for a segment, or more treble (how could you need more treble? heh!), or more bass, you have that extra on tap to get it, and it makes life a lot easier. Little bit of dialing in with the pots, but its worth it.

What kind of music do you play primarily?

Timbertea, I know what you're talking about with the tone/volume pots. I never used to mess around with those controls before because they always just dampened the guitar sound in an unusable way on my previous guitars. I guess it's one more skill for me to learn!

I'm not in a steady band or anything, but I write my own stuff here and there. My playing is sort of classic pop/rock (Beatles, Kinks, Who, Byrds, Big Star) meets punk/post-punk (Minutemen, Wire, Mission of Burma, XTC)... I love all guitar music in general. I like 'em clean (or at least relatively clean) and bright.
