Hehehehe!

"Guitar Acquisition Syndrome: is a killer. I was looking at the Iceman only the other day on EBay .. Hmmmmmm.

Yeah the recession is everywhere. £65 for a tank of fuel! Still, lucky for some of us if we can lock onto a bargain because someone needs the money. All's fair in love and war.

Thanks - I'd be interested on your views on the TESLA Plasma 3. Other than that (and with most others considered), I think I've pretty much made my mind up. I was thinking EMG's, but I'm gonna do the "patriotic thing" and go with IronGear "Hammerheads".

34 Degrees? I have to go to Cuba (was there in May) and Egypt for that! Thankfully I'll be there in 3 months ;-)

Cheers!

David

Awesome! I'm due for some PU swapping myself.

This is one of those PUs that I would definitely stay away.

I like a high level of brightness/treble to get the harmonics to pop out. This PU is very similar to the Bare Knuckle War Pig. The high winding produces a heck of a lot of output but the A5 magnet holds the overall tone back; producing a flat and darker range. A ceramic magnet would add back the dynamics as it works more in line with the tighter pull of the winding.

Not surprised that BK PUs say that their A5-War Pig is now popular with Jazz players.

Nevertheless, if you're looking for a sludgy tone, pop this TESLA-3 into a downtuned mahogony guitar with a Mesa Recto and you would have a quality doom tone.

Cheers MH. Mind you, if I could afford a Mesa Recto, I wouldn't be looking at these pups :-)

Doom is definitely a requirement - I'm going to have to do some "fiddling" with the EQ'ing of all the elements of my rig (maybe invest in decent graphic). It may even come down to having to decide upon binning "cleaner" sounds altogether.

I'm gonna try those "Hammerheads". No great loss if they turn out to be cr@p.

Well I've fitted the Hammerhead's into the Ibanez and will wire it up tomorrow. I also fitted a bridge Hammerhead into the bridge of another "beater" - an Aria Mac-50. Sounds awesome, especially as it's tuned 2 tones down. Yep, pretty happy so far.

I'd donate these crappy Ibanez TDB's to ya Motorhead if I thought they'd be any use to you. I'd use them for fridge magnets, but they'd probably fall off ;-)

Goodnight all.
