Selling for a Tele

I decided to sell my rare Kramer DMZ 1000 for a Tele. I figure I'll get about 500.00ish out of the Kramer and that's all going towards a Tele of some kind. The Kramer has the beefiest neck on earth and I'd like a thin neck. (stubby fingers) That's my main reason for a Telecaster. There are so many Telecasters to choose from I don't know what to do. Go MIJ or MIM? Go Fender or G & L?
I fell in love with a teal Telecaster and I'd love to get my hands on that color. I have to get that color! What year/type is the Tele I'm looking for? What's Fender's fancy name for Teal?

Thanks ahead of time!

Hey dude,
Obviusly you should aim for an american made,
try the new highway one teles,
or go for a second hand american, or maybe a late eighties japanese one.
if youre thinking MIM, then go try the new classic player baja telecaster.

Ocean Torquoise these days...

...and Ocean Torquoise Metallic back in the day

FWIW the Fender Japan code for the color is OTM.

My "Teal" Strat
You can replace the "t" style saddles w/ compensated brass "t" saddles (i.e. Callaham Guitars) which account for intonation, but retain the classic tele sound. It's a relatively inexpensive upgrade and to my ears, made a huge difference compared to the American Standard bridge/saddle combo (which I found somewhat sterile and linear.)

Ocean Turquoise looks like lake placid blue (LPB) that has been "aged". For those who don't know, the 60's LPB finished had a clear coat that would turn yellow from age, cigarette smoke, etc. That would filter the blue color and make it look slightly green to the eyes.

Pretty cool and pretty funny.

Cheers!
