Strat Neck Replacement Advice

I am about to replace the neck on my MIM Strat with a new one.

Are there any issues that might crop up that I need to be ready for?

Is there anything that I could do to lead to disaster?

Thanks,

Dave

Mmh, why are you replacing the neck, what's wrong with the old one?

I got a little over zealous at a couple of shows and there is major fret damage all up and down the neck. It would be cheaper to buy a new neck than get a totally new fret job.

Plus, although I realize that I'm losing all those years of breaking it in, my tastes have changed with my abilities and I now would prefer a maple fretboard.

Check out Carvin replacement necks, i have one on my strat, and it far better, it just feels as though it is made alot better, and it stays in tune more accuretely and for longer, its very nice.

i replaced the neck on my strat to a maple neck. i got mine off ebay for $50, you can get good deals from there. the only problem i ran into was the machine heads didn't fit perfectly (it didin't come with any). i just took the covers off the back. otherwise every thing was pretty good.
