Tempting Casino 'project' on ebay....
Okay, I've always wanted a Casino....would I be crazy to take this on?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 How much would a tech charge to fix something like this?

A lot!
I have a Yamaha 12 string acoustic electric that has a similar break but it's not completely off like that one. My estimate was around 350 so I can imagine that one would be even more. My guitar was about that much so I just retired it and threw it in the closet. I don't know if it would be worth it, dude.

AVOID THAT GUITAR LIKE THE PLAUGE!
one of my buddies had a les paul with the same break. he got it repaired. it worked ok but was hella hard to keep in tune. then it would break again every year or two and he would have to pay to have it fixed again. i will NEVER purchase a guitar that the headstock has broken off of.

Looks like a pretty common Gibson break. There are a lot of people playing SGs and Les Pauls with that same repair on them. I've read here that when done correctly, the joint should be stronger than it originally was. It's all about the quality of repair. Someone should be able to shed more light on this though(Frinky?).

Would it be easier or more difficult (ie cheaper or more expensive) to have a whole new neck fitted rather than the headstock repaired? Is that even possible?

maybe i didn't ask my question as clearly as i thought so I'll rephrase it: Would it be more expensive to replace a set-neck than to repair a broken head stock? |

i know its possible to put a whole new neck on. but im gonna assume it would be pretty frickin expensive.

As far the set neck vs. bolt-on question goes, I don't think that there's much of a demand for aftermarket Epiphone parts, the way there is for Fender. So I doubt that anyone sells Casino necks....but I'll check.
