uh oh... GAS:Les Paul Special in Worn White

i went and tried one out today, its the one with dual P-90s and i'm itching to do a trade in and buy it. does anyone have some feedback on this particular model? how does the worn finish hold up vs the poly (im thinking there might be headaches with humidity etc).

theyre asking $1025, but since its discontinued they can let it go for $900.

That's a pretty good price for a Les Paul Special. I don't know that particular one you're asking about though. I only know the TV Yellow and Cherry Red LPS'. Didn't even know they made it other colours than those two. What year is it? The 90's era LPS' usually came with P-100's, not P-90's. If it's dead quiet on one pickup it's probably not P-90's so factor in a pickup swap.

Is it a transparent finish? Can you verify that it's a single piece of mahogany? That's the killer attribute of a Les Paul Special if you ask me: it's one big piece of wood.

the finish looks just like these:

from what ive been reading its just a 2 coat nitro finish without buffing, so the grain shows through. it looks like one slab, but i'll check again when i go back today.

do the P-100s have the same look as P-90s? its a newer model i think, just recently out of production. after those clips you posted i was planning on putting some fralins in it eventually anyway

ideally i'd like a glossy white model, but they are a good $400 more at least, and full price due to being a current production model.

[edit]: surprisingly hard to find online. this is the exact model:

P-100s and P-90s look the same from the surface. No way to tell them apart. P-100s will be dead quiet when only using one pickup because they're a stacked humbucker design. Not a bad pickup, just not P-90s.

That's a pretty nice looking LPS. I couldn't find a word of information on them online either. Rare, but unpopular perhaps? My preference is for a bound fingerboard on the LPS but for $900 that's easy to look past. If you like the way it plays and dig the sound my opinion is it's a solid investment.
