computer for music production and gamining help?
im having trouble with picking a great i7 core proccessor laptop for cubase and also gaming the most demanding game is battlfiled 3, im not a brand whore, but i live in Australia so laptops vary, price is anywhere below $2000 AUS. preferably windows not mac
Cubase requirements - minimum requirements - ( but i want to the software to run on high!!!!!!) Windows 7* Intel or AMD dual core CPU Windows compatible audio hardware** 2 GB RAM 8 GB of free HD space Display resolution of 1280 x 800 recommended DVD-ROM dual-layer drive USB port for USB-eLicenser (not required for Cubase Elements 6) Internet connection for license activation Battlefield 3 - Recommendation settings - but i want to play on high settings OS: Windows 7 64-bit Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU RAM: 4GB Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950. Graphics card memory: 1 GB Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version AHHHh its all confusing to me, help? |

All of the requirements for Battlefield 3 exceed the ones for cubase.
To run Cubase in the highest resolutions is much more dependant on Memory (more+/faster is better) so the Battlefield requirement should make that OK too. Hopefully multi-string implementation will make having a multipurpose DAW less of an issue than it once was but if you start to have issues using cubase and you machine is full of a lot of other stuff expect a world of pain/reinstalling.

Whatever you end up buying, once you've got all your stuff on it and it's running sweetly, image the drive to an external HD using Acronis or something like that. That way if things do eventually go tits up you'll be up and running again within minutes.

Using your computer for gaming, internet etc is a recipe for a buggy glitchy music computer. Just saying...
