I've used Logic and Cubase extensively. I cut my teeth on Cubase so I find myself always coming back to it. Both are great programs with slightly different approaches to work flow.
Live is another beast entirely. I love it for sound design and messing with pitch and loops. I start in Live and mix in Cubase these days...

Yeah, old eyes and a typo. Unfortunately I could't figure out how to edit the title. Oh well, you get my drift.

I mean I listen to everything on MP3 so I would NEVER BUY a CD. It is no different. When you steal software (call it what ever you want but at the end of the day {and in a court of Law} it is STEALING) you are committing a crime and it could be argued that in the case of a program costing over $2,000 it is grand larceny. Yes the corporations are big and are making money, and they are employing people and my guess is that many of them are musicians and song writers just like you and me. You may think your one program theft is no big deal but add yours to the potentially hundreds of others out there and it starts to make a rather large mark in the P&L book. These companies work hard to bring programs to people who want them. I don't like them all in fact I despise Microsoft as being the largest 5000 pound gorilla on the market that is totally out of control but you don't change them by stealing from them you change them by doing it right like the folks from LINX who put out all kinds of freeware from apps that match the Microsoft office suite to operating systems. The long and short of it is these companies have overhead and profit requirements and goals that are the basis of how they set the pricing of their products. If you don't like the price or can't afford them look for alternatives. There are several USB 2 Chanel and up Mixing boards that allow you to hook up to your computer and get the type of flexibility you are looking for. It may not have everything you want but enough to get the job done. I'll get off my soap box now and apologize for the outburst but this is a topic that gets to me because people don't look at it as STEALING when it is.
