I can find out alot about them. I also know that boss and ehx are the worst for having wires come undone and getting pedals that need simple repairs to be sold for cheap If oyu can do me some gut shots, I can make it happen; and if not, then I'll just send it back. Ask the dude for some gut shots first I guess. [My DS-1 did this until I modded it once.. then said sh!t on it and made it a whole nother beast ]

I hear ya! My dad's first acoustic was a red Samich from a local type of store. I think its a brand owned by Washburn and this is called a Samich.. Sounds great when recording and is nice a bright. My epiphone has that great and full bodied tone that I love when playing acoustic, but I cant really get it to behave as well onstage as the samich when I use it.

Yeah, the Rat can do great overdrive! Loved it for that. And can scream or chug if it's your thing.

Modding pedals aren't really pedals, per se... just a service done to revamp and retune them; like a car's engine.

You should tell him it's sort of like the difference between clothes. One can be nice and clean with just the right attitude, and the other can be dirty and mangy. They each will call for different occasions to set the right mood and make different things possible.

That's cool man. If it doesn't need an LM308, then I'll just have the clipping switch [c/t/m], the internal Girth control, and a few more flavor mods. and if it has the LM308 then take out a dollar from the order, since that's how much that one opamp costs. Sound good to you?
