Lucky you! I wish I was doing more playing. It's all theory (til saturday; EXAM) and basement studio for me
I've decided against rotary sim, cause it ain't as versatile as a phaser. You don't get that deep swoosh phase thang with a leslie sim, even if it does the fast speed thing better.
Other option, is you bastardize a normal small stone I find. But it'd have to be one i found for like... pennies and could pay you for a rehouse and all the mods.
Best option, but most expensive is one of us buys a byoc phase royal and you put it together.
Riskiest but cheaper than the above option is i buy it myself for $95 and put it together myself. I just think there is too much room to screw up with my limited knowledge on soldering small electronics.
Reverse delay is some crazy **** man. I wonder how well it works in a practical use. I wonder if I just rip a solo like I normally would with a reverse delay on if it would still sound cool in it's own way. Or do you usually have to alter your playing to make it work?
I just gotta find things that make interesting sounds. Because in band, there are already so many rhythm guitarists, I can't just strum chords. So I only get to really play during the solo section.
I figure a cool tap tempo delay could get some neat sounds to sprinkle on the overall sound of the band.
I'm probably going to be buying that Sandro guy's old byoc phaser (2 knob). But I figure if I buy that, i may as well just buy that univibe/phase clone thing. I dont know which sounds better, but the BYOC has no resell value anyways, so there's no argument to get it over the Carl's Custom.
Unless the carl's custom thing sounds like crap. I've only heard short demos of it, which don't really showcase the sounds I want out of it (just cause the guy never went to those settings...)
Orrr, I could go for an Ibanez pt9. But it'd run me the whole $100, and it just doesn't sound that great. and I don't like the ibanez footswitch that much. I even like boss footswitches better...
Yeah I used to have a DD-20. Great unit, just stupidly got into a fit of trading right and left and ended up sending it to Razor on here in a HUUUGE trade. I don't miss it, but it was really good at everything. Taught me how to loop and tap tempo. EHx Deluxe Memory Boy is cool too, but I'm honestly more of a simple delay user. I could get by on less.
I've developed major gas for a dd-20 recently :\ That twist thang is soo frikn cool. Have you ever had one of these? Boss seems to be hated on lately from what I've been reading, but their twin pedals are typically neat, right?
