European Post-Rock Bands

Can any members from Europe (or America if you are in the know) recommend European bands--excluding the UK--who are post-rock/noise/experimental?

Bands similar to Mogwai, GSYBE, Explosions in the Sky, Hammock, etc. Or even bands similar to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine.

M83 is probably the only band that I'm aware of that somewhat fits this distinction.

here in italy there is this band called giardini di mirĂ² that you may like.
we were supposed to be their opening act once, but they had one of them sick and had to cancel... would you consider the slint gig in bologna on the same night just a coincidence with one of them getting sick?

+1 for their debut album and early singles.... definitely had shades of shoegaze and post-rock ... i was kinda disapointed with their EP Music for Nurses tho... not because it was bad, it really wasn't, but they seem to be heading in a radio friendly alt-metal direction almost.... i hope their next album turns things around....

edit... haha...just realized the original poster wanted to exclude the UK... so that excludes Oceansize ...

Yeah... I've heard some songs from Oceansize. I dig them.

I'll check out Giardini di Miro and Migala for sure.

Any others?

**Oh yeah... I don't want to discourage people from mentioning UK bands, because I'm sure there are many who I've never heard of. The reason I excluded them initially is because I follow UK bands fairly closely, and wanted to see what other European bands are out there.

Keep them coming.

I've listened to Mono before. In fact, I almost bought one of their cds the other day, but I wasn't sure it was the right one.

Great music, though, definitely.

jenifever - fantastic post rock from sweden

larmousse - i think now split up but a two piece uk post rock band with 1 album

youthmovie soundtrack statergies - kinda post rock and post hardcore mixed... cool uk band

radio dept - scandinavian shoegazing very cool

engineers - uk shoegazing band.... kinda a mellow m83.... quite similar bands

pure reason revolution - uk prog rock genius

fridge/four tet - more electronic based but heavily post rock influenced

and theres always the obvious sigur ros/mogwai/slowdive.... most of the bands above have free samples from their websites

Awesome, I'll check them all out.

I'm a fan of Sigur Ros and Four Tet.

Mogwai and M83 are probably my favorite post-rock bands, if that's what they're classified as.

not european (american actually), but I never see anyone around here mentioning the band "Landing".... A bit shoegaze, a bit post-rock, a bit Flying Saucer Attack (earlier stuff especially)....

Also, jessamine never gets any mentioning around here...

both good bands worth checking into...
