Recommend me some Ambient/Spacey/Atmospheric bands !

Well guys, the title says it all really.

Can you please recommend me some newer bands (90's onwards) in this genre, and by that, i do not mean Radiohead (i do like 'em, but not really what i am looking for).
I need new music, and i am looking into phycadellic, ambient, "trippy" atmpheric bands, and they do not need to be mainstream top40 stuff, as long as i can get the albums on amazon.

This thread got inpiered by fiveways thread about ambient gear : see post below

Thanks to all

Pfff, there are so many bands out there that fit those labels.
I'd recommend my favorite act, hammock. The album 'raising your voice... trying to stop an echo' and 'maybe they will sing for us tomorrow' are instant classics.

I know you said "90's onward" but...

Luna
Galaxie 500
Mazzy Star
Joy Division
Daniel Lanois
Echo & The Bunneymen
Jesus & Mary Chain

And some newer stuff:

Black Mountain
The Baby Namboos
Boards of Canada
Portishead
Explosions in the Sky

Some of that is spacey, some of that is ambient, some of it is both. Some of it is barely either.

Cliche, but My Bloody Valentine is great.

Also, check out Le volume Courbe. Some weird soundscapey indie stuff and american folk songs.

+10000000. Hammock's "Raising your voice..." is one of my favorite all-time albums. It's beautiful.

DemoColorScheme's stuf is really cool (love the youtube channel).

And shameless plug for myself http://www.myspace.com/lyndonstation.
