Who here bought the SOAD record?

I did. Thought it was pretty impressive. The songs all sound a bit alike though. It's not metal music, either. I'm still impressed, but it's quite different from Toxicity.

I really like it.

As for Steal This Album, I wouldn't say it was downright better than Toxicity. It was great but also a bit different. It's what I like about SOAD, they always change a bit between albums without making any radical change. They still sound like SOAD without getting repetitive. I find all their records are really good. Not masterpieces, but I've never been dissapointed.

I love the New S.O.A.D. album. I liked Toxicity. As for steal this album. almost 90% of those songs on it were written during and b4 their self titled album came out in 98. I saw them on Long Island in 98 on their first tour. They used to play the entire 1st album. Plus most of those songs from steal this album. I like the sound on the new album. Very middle eastern. Look foward to Hynotize coming out in the fall. But their 1st album is by far the best one.

1) Its cheeky to release two albums so close together, and both only >40 minutes long. Make it one CD and do your fans a favour.

2) I hear there is a lot of Daron singing, and he's mixed very loud vocally. That is a bad thing, IMO. Serg's voice is the best part of the band, IMO.

Having said this, I haven't heard it, I'm only going by what I've been told by friends.

Thats true, he has been mixed much louder than before, but I quite like it.

I'm very into SOAD, I like most of the things they've done so far, but the new record just... sucks...

I only like the intro, Cigaro, and (a little bit) BYOB... I'm very disappointed and sad about this record. I think Daron's vocals suck and he should shut the **** up and just play guitars, and let Serj do all the work because he's one of the greatest singer we have these days...

About the "Make it one CD and do your fans a favour." thing.... +1 !!!!

I don't really like it. Most of the lyrics are just pure crap... Most guitar riffs just sound stupid to me. I think they're trying so hard to be weird that it's just not cool anymore. I really laughed aloud at that part in BYOB with "everybody's going to the club etc.". Ah, well. I'll just listen to the earlier albums!
