Crate HELP!!!

I recently started working on a Powered PA Head and had to replace a few burnt resistors then I plugged it up and poof!!! Grey smoke and that awful awful smell!
I want to point out also that I plugged it up ... i never even turned the power switch it just came on and poof!!!

I Cracked it back open and I now see a capacitor has blown and two other resistors have blown.

Does anybody have any idea what I should expect with a problem like this ... i am still very amateur in my diagnosis of problems so any help is greatly appreciated.

I had wondered if the transformer may have went bad or if it was running power through the ground ... i am a little lost if anyone can give me a few ideas ...

Thank You!
