Guitar Building

I'm looking to start making replacement Strat Bodies and Necks, and maybe some Les Paul Body and Necks for some extra money. I tryed to find out what tools to use or even how to do it so any help will be apriciated.

Some of my more important ?'s:
1: What TOOLS do I need to Route the bodys, necks, and headstocks (part of the neck)?

2: For the neck, do they have wood that allready has a truss rod in the shaft, and you just have to carve it, and if not how do you install a truss rod into the neck?

3: Where do you find all the tools and wood and any other things you need, is StewMac good for tools and parts?

I really hate discouraging people so here's the best I can come up with for you:

Find a guitar manufacturer within a reasonable travel distance from your location. If none such exist save up until you have the money to at least visit one. Arrange a tour. Look at how they do it and what equipment they use. Get an idea of the work flows and processes.

Ideally doing an 'internship' or getting a job at such a place would be very helpful.

Once you have seen what is involved you can then make a decision about moving ahead based on actual valuable knowledge. I'm almost certain you will decide not to but that ultimately is your choice.

Check out the forum over at Project Guitar.com :: Guitar Project.com

They have all sorts of build threads. Great techniques, and ideas. Before buying or carving anything, I would definitely read through a hundred or so build threads

Here's a link to the forums "build thread"
In Progress and Finished Work - Project Guitar Forum

And here's a recent build thread for a Les Paul as a fer instance...
