I've not tried the Red Box but I do own a Palmer PGA-04. I don't see the Red Box as being particularly handy for home recording because it's not a dummy load. You still have to run your signal to something that soaks up the power. Either a speaker or a power soak. Pushing power tubes is still going to be ear bleedingly low. Not so with the PGA-04. I have some recent clips in the Tips and Tricks section: http://guitargeek.com/chat/showthrea...threadid=95010

1st up it's a bit pricey.. 2nd, I'm talking recording without a tube amp, since i don't own one (was gonna get the champ 600, until reading loads about this rattle it quickly develops)... i currently mainly record electric direct in via my tri-ac...which is awesome for single note stuff and dirty stuff...but the clean chord work just has this artificial sound to it, despite sounding amazing through my jc 50....so i was thinking putting this on the end may give me a better speaker sound... opinions?
