I have protools just the Software that was authorized by a buddy at Guitar Center. I want it for my band and want all my guys in the band to have protools on their comps. Should I just buy the ILoc and then I'll be able to give them authorization to use my protools?

With the iLoc you can only use one instance of Protools at a time. So if the drummer wants to use Protools on his computer you'd give him your iLoc but then you would not be able to use Protools on your computer.

If that's what you want to do: go for it. It's pretty much exactly what iLoc was designed for; to let you carry your plugin licenses and Protools license with you from studio to studio.

Ok one question though. How is it that people are giving others their codes which is allowing these people to use protools without the ILoc.

Pretty much I can get the software protools, install on all their comps, and have them go buy ILocs and they can then use protools whenever right?

I suspect what these people are doing is not entirely above the board.

It's not enough to own an iLoc USB device. You need a Protools license *on* the iLoc for Protools to run. iLoc just lets you move your licenses, easily, from one machine to another. You'll all have to buy Protools licenses if you all want to use Protools at the same time, iLoc or no iLoc.
